Vista Installation requirements:

The CompuTrainer CompCS and Multirider III software have special installation requirements for Vista which YOU MUST FOLLOW before that software can operate. ErgVideo REQUIRES your CompCS or Multirider III to operate, so YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

1. Install CompCS to a folder in the root directory of your primary disk: C:\CompCS or C:\Multirider III instead of the default C:\Program Files\CompCS or C:\Program Files\Multirider III folders.
2. For CompCS, you must turn off Windows Aero display and use Windows Vista Basic. Right click you desktop and select "Personalize" then "Window Color and appearance" then click the text "Open classic appearance properties". Now select "Windows Vista Basic", apply, Ok, and close the windows.
3. You should do the same as (2) for Multirider.
4. Now verify that either CompCS or Multirider III operate correctly. Connect your bike. Any further problems must be referred to Racermate Inc.

Now for ErgVideo:

1. You require an MPEG-4 v2 codec on your system. A NEW INSTALL OF VISTA MAY NOT INCLUDE AN MPEG-4 v2 codec.  YOU SHOULD INSTALL THE FFDshow CODEC. It is very efficient and flexible. Your Windows Media Player, if set to search for codecs on the internet, MIGHT download one for you, but chances are, the one it loads ISN'T nearly as good as FFDshow. Download and install it. Our instructional video shows you how to configure it.
2. When Vista CD/DVD Autoplay asks if you would like to run a program on the DVD, select the file ending in .bat.
3. Always install ErgVideo in the default location shown by the installer.

USB-Serial Drivers and Vista/XP

The Sewell USB-Serial adapters are based on Prolific chipsets and require drivers by Prolific. The versions currently provided by Windows Update and Sewell have proven to be flawed on Vista and even XP systems. We strongly recommend direct 9-pin serial port connection or FTDI-based USB-serial adapters (such as available here) for use with Vista. Unlike Prolific, FTDIchip is even providing excellent drivers even for 64-bit systems (Vista and XP) and they seem better positioned to support cable manufacturers in the future.

If you stick with the Sewell cables, for Windows XP, we recommend the Prolific v2.0.2.8 driver for use with Prolific chip based USB-Serial Adapters. See "Install USB-Serial Drivers" on the Support page.

Likewise for Windows Vista, RacerMate provides older but working Prolific/Sewell drivers which can be installed on Vista to work with your Sewell cable. For video instructions on how to get this done, see "Install USB-Serial Drivers" on the Support page.

Version 1.0.7 is proven by ErgVideo Inc. to operate with both Multirider III and CompCS most recent versions, installed as above.

Version 2.1.4 is proven by ErgVideo Inc. to operate with Multirider III and CompCS 1.6, Velotron CS Beta (1.6) most recent versions, installed as above.

ErgVideo 2.0 REQUIRES MultiRider 3 v1.3 or Coaching Software 1.6, or Velotron CS Beta (1.6).
