Riding Tips
ErgVideo operates the CompuTrainer in ergometer mode. This means you must output the power level it dictates. It's very different from 3d mode.
You can, of course, completely control the intensity of your ride. Professionals and beginners can ride together, and have exactly the same training experience!
ErgVideo is the ONLY simulation of the true demands of cycle racing for CompuTrainer™. Your efforts are dictated by the pack’s behaviour, not just the course profile. You will change speed and output power often.
- Warm-up well. The surges and attacks are very realistic.
- Rest whenever you can. If the CompuTrainer is easy to pedal, pedal easily. Don’t work when you don’t have to.
- Don’t treat a power interval as if it is a HILL. It is a required increase in POWER, not an increase in grade. Don’t change to a lower gear for a surge. In fact, you’ll often need a BIGGER gear, to output more power. It’s best to try riding in one gear, at first.
- Stay spinning fast! In fact, spin faster just before a power surge is required, and maintain the effort until the load diminishes again.
- If you can’t keep pedaling fast, you’ve set the intensity too hard. Avoid grinding below 60rpm. You’re getting dropped!
- Multirider 3 software is recommended even for single users. It allows adjustment of the basic intensity while riding.
- To get the sensation of high torque climbing, try lowering gear and your cadence, and then stand up! Be careful: the CompuTrainer™ will stop you if you can't smoothly output the power this way!
